Army Group Patches

Here you can find a list all different World War Two Army Groups that saw action during World War Two. In total there are 3 groups. For every group division we have added pictures of their insignia (some with variations) and some background information. The patches seen here are made during the World War Two era. 6th Army Group
The 6th army group was also known as the southern group of armies and was active in the European Theater of Operations during Wold War Two. It consisted of US and French Armies that fought in France, Germany, Austria, and Italy. The 6th Army group consisted of around 700.000 men.

Part of the 6th Army group were the US 7th Army and the French 1st Army.

The patch of the 6th Army group is a red square with woven white lines in the middle.

 

12th Army Group
The 12th army group was the largest US formation ever to exist and was active in the European Theater of Operations during Wold War Two. It consisted of mostly US troops and contained over 48 US Divisions. The commanding general of the 12th army group was Omar Bradley. The 12th Army group consisted of around 1.300.000 men.

 

Part of the 12th Army Group were the US 1st Army, 3rd Army, 9th Army and the 15th Army.

The patch of the 12th Army group is a kite like shape with red, white and blue lines.

 

15th Army Group
The 15th army group was active in the European Theater of Operations during Wold War Two. It consisted of mostly US and British Armies but also included French, Brazilian, Polish and Italian units. The 15th Army group was mostly active in North Africa, Italy and around the Mediterranean. The 15th Army group consisted of around 1.200.000 men.

 

Part of the 15th Army group were the US 5th Army, British 8th Army and the Italian Resistance Movement.

The patch of the 15th Army group is a red square with a shield shape in the middle which has white and blue wavy lines.
