Cavalry Division Patches

Here you can find a list all different United States Army Cavalry Divisions that saw action during World War Two. As well as some other cavalry related patches. In total there are 2 Cavalry Divisions. For every Cavalry Division we have added pictures of their insignia (some with variations) and some background information. 1st Cavalry Division

The 1st Cavalry Division was active in the Pacific Theater Of Operations during World War Two. The division took part in the invasion of Leyte and later Manila. After the war members of the 1st Cavalry Division served as an occupational force in Japan.

The divisions insignia is a yellow shield shape with a black line and a black horses head.

2nd Cavalry Division

Although the 2nd Cavalry Division trained for combat in the European Theater of Operations, the Division saw no combat during World War Two. The division arrived in North Africa in 1944 and was assigned to construct airfields and do supply runs for the Tuskegee Airmen. The division also provided replacement troops for the 92nd Infantry Division who fought in Italy.

The divisions insignia is a yellow shield shape with a blue line and two blue stars on top.

Nickname: Buffalo Soldiers

3rd Cavalry Regiment

The 3rd Cavalry Regiment was active in the European Theater Of Operations after arriving in England in June 1944. Although serving more as a reconnaissance unit the regiment saw action in northern France, the battle of Metz, during the Battle of the Bulge near Bastogne and in southern Germany. The regiment liberated KZ Erbensee, a sub camp of Mauthausen.

The 3rd Cavalry Regiments insignia is a round shape with a green background, yellow trumpet, banners with their nickname and a 3 below.
