Bullion Patches

Here you can find a list of different United States Army patches that were made with bullion thread. For every patch we have added pictures of the insignia (some with variations) and some background information. The patches seen here are made during the World War Two era. We hope you find this helpful!

7th Army
The 7th Army was originally the first armored corps under General Patton. But after fighting in North-Africa it was made the 7th Army. The 7th Army commanded 24 different US divisions during World War Two and is best known for their role in the liberation of Italy, northern Europe and operation Undertone, crossing the Rhine River.

The Seventh Army patch had a blue pyramid shape with a yellow stair like A with 7 steps and a red triangle in the middle.

Motto: Pyramid of Power

US Army Air Forces
These patches are the general version of Air Force patches worn by US soldiers during World War Two.

The insignia is a blue circle with a white star with a red dot and above the star are yellow wings. The bullion version doesn't have very distinct color differences. This piece is believed to be either private purchase or British Made.

Overseas Bars

Overseas bars were worn by US soldiers to show how many month's they had been serving overseas. The bars originate form service bars worn after World War One. Each bar stands for 6 months overseas while serving in the US army.

The shape of the insignia is usually a yellowish/gold bar with green or khaki backing. This piece is believed to be German Made.
