Here you can find a list of different United States Army Service Command patches. In total there are 11 US Service Commands. For every patch we have added pictures of the insignia (some with variations) and some background information. The patches seen here are made during the World War Two era. 1st Service Command
The continental area of the United States was divided into nine service commands. Every service command was responsible to perform the various functions of the US Army Service Forces. Construction, operation of depots,supervision of the housing and hospitalization of troops, repairs, maintenance, finances, administration et cetera. The 1st Service Command was responsible for Connecticut, New Hampshire. Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont

2nd Service Command
The continental area of the United States was divided into nine service commands. Every service command was responsible to perform the various functions of the US Army Service Forces. Construction, operation of depots,supervision of the housing and hospitalization of troops, repairs, maintenance, finances, administration et cetera. The 2nd Service Command was responsible for Delaware, New Jersey, New York.
The service commands insignia is a blue square with a two white shaped squares overlapping in the middle.
3rd Service Command
The continental area of the United States was divided into nine service commands. Every service command was responsible to perform the various functions of the US Army Service Forces. Construction, operation of depots,supervision of the housing and hospitalization of troops, repairs, maintenance, finances, administration et cetera. The 3rd Service Command was responsible for District of Columbia (until August 1942), Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia.

4th Service Command
The continental area of the United States was divided into nine service commands. Every service command was responsible to perform the various functions of the US Army Service Forces. The 4th Service Command was responsible for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina.

5th Service Command

The 5th Service Command was responsible for Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia.

7th Service Command WAC

The 7th Service Command was responsible for Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Wyoming, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota.

North West Service Command
Although the continental United States was divided into nine service commands. The North West Service Command served with the same purpose. In August 1942 it was separated from the Third Service Command and assumed the status of a service command The North West Service Command was responsible for Alaska, British Columbia, Yukon Territory.
The insignia is a five sided shape with a red and blue background. In the middel is a white vertical stripe with a blue star at the top.
Washington DC Military District
Although the continental United States was divided into nine service commands. The Washington DC Military District served with the same purpose.
The missions of the units in the Military District of Washington included tasks that were held by all other service commands, as well as ceremonial tasks and a combat role in the defense of the National Capital Region. The Washington District was responsible for Washington, DC, Arlington County, Virginia.
The insignia is an oval shape with a blue background, red border and in the middel the Washington monument with a sword crossing the patch.
